Frequently Asked Questions:
Much has been said and rumored about Havana and Cuba. In this section we answer the questions we have heard most frequently.

Question 1: Is it safe to travel to Havana?

Answer: Havana is a safe place. Compared to other large cities it is practically paradise. However with the blooming increase of tourism in Havana, snatch and run robberies have become wide practice. Nobody wants to murder you here, but if they can easily snatch your purse, increasingly more frequently this actually happens. Hold your things tight, or better still, don't walk about with valuables.

Question 2: Is it safe to live in private accommodation?

Answer: The same is true here, as has just been said about criminality in general. Havana is a safe city, if you take your precautions. If you go live with families with a license to rent out their rooms you are safe, because if a tourist has problems with security, so does the person renting out the room.

Question 3: Can I enter the Country without an hotel reservation?

Answer: Immigration officers frequently ask tourists for a hotel voucher. You are not allowed to enter the Country without an address where you will be staying. If you are unable to supply the officer with the address of your accommodation you can be forced to make a reservation for a couple of days at the port of entry. Instead of the name of a hotel you can also enter the address of the casa particular you will be staying at. Cubatrip sends you a reservation confirmation with the address of the casa. Keep this confirmation at hand during immigration procedures.
